WWE Judgment Day is a WWE Pay-Per-View event. The first edition of Judgment Day was in October of 1998 as an In Your House event. This Pay-Per-View (usually held in May) was originally known as Over The Edge in 1998 and 1999 but the name was replaced after the fatal tragedy at the 1999 event with the death of Owen Hart. In 2000, Judgment Day became the annual May event which follows the WWE Backlash Pay-Per-View in April. Judgement Day is now exclusive to the Smackdown! Brand.


The event was held October 18, 1998, at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, Illinois.

* WWE Sunday Night Heat Match: Steve Blackman def. Justin Bradshaw
* Al Snow (w/ Head) pinned Marvelous Marc Mero (w/ Jacqueline).
* The Legion Of Doom (Road Warrior Hawk, Road Warrior Animal, and Droz) defeated The Disciples of Apocalypse (Skull and 8-Ball) and Paul Ellering when Droz pinned Skull.
* Christian (w/ Gangrel) pinned Light Heavyweight Champion Taka Michinoku to win the title.
* Goldust pinned Val Venis (w/ Terri Runnels).
* X-Pac pinned European Champion D-Lo Brown to win the title.
* The Headbangers defeated WWF Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws by disqualification (Outlaws retain the titles).
* WWF Intercontential Champion Ken Shamrock defeated Mankind via KO, to retain.
* Mark Henry (w/ D-Lo Brown) pinned The Rock.
* Guest referee Stone Cold Steve Austin declared himself the winner of the WWF Championship match he was officiating between Kane and The Undertaker As a result, Austin was fired (kayfabe) from the WWF by Vince McMahon.


On May 21, 2000 WWE Judgment Day was held Louisville, Kentucky at Freedom Hall.

* Too Cool (Scotty 2 Hotty, Grandmaster Sexay & Rikishi) went up against Kurt Angle, Edge & Christian in a 6-man tag team match; the match ended when Scotty 2 Hotty pinned Edge, giving Too Cool the victory.
* The European Champion Eddie Guerrero successfully defended his title in a triple threat match against Perry Saturn & Dean Malenko.
* The Big Show took on Shane McMahon in a No Disqualification, Falls Count Anywhere match, with the help of Test, Albert, the Big Boss Man & Bull Buchanan; Shane McMahon got the victory.
* Chris Benoit took on Chris Jericho in a submission match with Benoits Intercontinental Title on the line; due to Jericho passing out, Benoit remained Intercontinental Champion.
* In a tables match, D-Generation X members Road Dogg & X-Pac took on the Dudley Boyz in a tables match, with a little help from X-Pacs girlfriend Tori & Gerald Brisco, D-X left victorious.
* In the main event, a 60-minute iron man match, Triple H took on The Rock for the WWE Championship, with Shawn Michaels as special guest referee. With a last minute interference by the returning Undertaker, Triple H won by a score of 6-5.


On May 20, 2001 WWE Judgment Day was in Sacramento, California at the Arco Arena.

* WWE Sunday Night Heat Match: Raven def. Val Venis
* WWE Sunday Night Heat Match: Hardcore Holly & Crash Holly def. Kaientai
* William Regal took on Rikishi, which Regal won by a pinfall.
* Kurt Angle next took on Chris Benoit in a 2/3 Falls match, where the first fall had to be won by pinfall, the second fall had to be won by submission, and the third fall if necessary would be a ladder match. The first fall was won by Benoit to take an early 1-0 lead, the second fall was won by Angle to tie it up, and in the final fall with help from his friends Edge & Christian, Angle won the ladder match.
* WWE Hardcore Champion Rhyno defended his title in a triple threat match against Test & The Big Show; Rhyno came out victorious by pinfall.
* Chyna defeated challenger Lita to retain her WWF Womens Championship. Chyna pinned Lita by reversing a Twist Of Fate attempt by Lita and nailing her with a deadly Powerbomb. This was also Chynas last appearance in the WWE as she left the following day after a 5 year run with the company. Chyna also took the Womens Championship title with her leaving no diva exclusive championship for the other women to compete for.
* Kane went up against Intercontinental Champion, Triple H in a chain match; Kane won to become the new Intercontinental Champion.
* Next up was a Tag Team Turmoil match to determine who would be the number 1 contenders for the tag team titles the next night on RAW. The Acolytes (Faarooq & Bradshaw) eliminated the Radicalz (Perry Saturn & Dean Malenko) first. Then the Acolytes eliminated the Dudley Boyz after interference from Hardcore & Crash Holly. Up next X-Factor (X-Pac & Albert) eliminated the Acolytes. Then came the Hardy Boyz who were eliminated by X-Factor. Then Chris Jericho teamed up with Chris Benoit and eliminated X-Factor. Next up were Edge & Christian who were eliminated by Benoit & Jericho, giving the Tag Team Turmoil win to Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho*.
* WWE Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated The Undertaker in a no DQ match to retain the title.

* Note-Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin & Triple H the next night on Raw to become the WWE Tag Team Champions


On May 19, 2002 WWE Judgment Day was held in the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

The theme song was Broken by 12 Stones.

* WWE Sunday Night Heat Match: European Champion William Regal defeated DLo Brown to retain the title
* Intercontinental Champion Eddie Guerrero defeated Rob Van Dam to retain the title (10:47)
* Womens Champion Trish Stratus defeated Stacy Keibler to retain the title (3:00) . Trish pinned Stacy following a Bulldog.
* Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman defeated The Hardy Boyz when Paul Heyman pinned Jeff Hardy (4:00)
* Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated The Big Show & Ric Flair in a Handicap match (15:34)
* Edge defeated Kurt Angle in a Hair vs. Hair match, forcing Angle to be shaved bald (15:28)
* Triple H defeated Chris Jericho in a Hell in a Cell match (24:29)
* Tag Team Champions Billy & Chuck Lost to Rikishi & Rico to Crown new tag-team Champions (3:50)
* The Undertaker defeated Hulk Hogan to win the WWE Undisputed title (11:20)


Judgment Day 2003 was held in Charlotte, North Carolinas Charlotte Coliseum on May 18, 2003.

* WWE Sunday Night Heat Match: The Hurricane defeated Steven Richards
* John Cena & The F.B.I. (Chuck Palumbo & Johnny Stamboli) defeated Chris Benoit, Rhyno & Spanky in a 6-Man Tag Team Match (3:55)
* La Résistance defeated Test & Scott Steiner (6:20)
* Eddie Guerrero & Tajiri defeated Team Angle (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) in a ladder match to win the WWE Tag Team Championship (14:10)
* Christian defeated Val Venis, Chris Jericho, Lance Storm, Test, Rob Van Dam, Kane, Goldust & Booker T in a Battle Royal to win the returning and vacant WWE Intercontinental Championship (11:55)
* Torrie Wilson defeated Sable in a bikini contest.
* Mr. America defeated Roddy Piper (4:50)
* Kevin Nash defeated World Heavyweight Champion Triple H by disqualification (7:22). However, Triple H retains his World Heavyweight Title
* Jazz defeated Victoria, Jacqueline & Trish Stratus in a Fatal 4-Way Match to retain the WWE Womens Championship (4:47). Jazz pinned Jacqueline after a dangerous DDT.
* Brock Lesnar defeated The Big Show in a Stretcher match to retain the WWE Championship (15:27)


Results for Judgment Day 2004, held on Sunday, May 16 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, were:

* WWE Sunday Night Heat Match: Mark Jindrak defeated Funaki
* Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam defeated The Dudley Boyz (15:20)
* Torrie Wilson defeated Dawn Marie to keep her job on Smackdown (5:39)
* Mordecai defeated Scotty 2 Hotty (3:02)
* Charlie Haas and Rico defeated Hardcore Holly and Billy Gunn to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship (9:49)
* Chavo Guerrero (one arm tied behind his back) defeated Jacqueline to win the WWE Cruiserweight Title (4:49)
* John Cena defeated Rene Dupree to retain the WWE United States Championship (9:57)
* The Undertaker defeated Booker T (11:24)
* John Bradshaw Layfield defeated Eddie Guerrero by disqualification (23:14); Guerrero retains the WWE Championship

* WWE Sunday Night Heat Match: Nunzio defeated Akio with a roll up. (3:31)
* MNM w/ Melina defeated Hardcore Holly & Charlie Haas to retain the WWE Tag-Team Championship (8:05)
* Carlito w/ Matt Morgan defeated The Big Show (4:40)
* Paul London defeated Chavo Guerrero to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship (10:41)
* Booker T defeated Kurt Angle (14:08)
* Orlando Jordan defeated Heidenreich to retain the WWE United States Championship (4:54)
* Rey Mysterio defeated Eddie Guerrero by disqualification (18:35).
* John Cena defeated John Bradshaw Layfield in an I Quit Match to retain the WWE Championship (22:40)

Results for WWE Judgment Day, held on May 21, 2006 at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The theme song is This Fire Burns by Killswitch Engage.

* Matt Hardy defeated Simon Dean (4:57) in a non-televised bonus match.

* Paul London and Brian Kendrick defeated MNM via pinfall to win the WWE Tag Team Championship (13:42).
o After the match Johnny Nitro & Melina turned on Joey Mercury.

* Chris Benoit defeated Finlay via submission (21:10)

* Jillian Hall defeated Melina via pinfall (4:17).
o Melina actually grabbed the bottom rope when she was pinned, but the referee counted the pin anyway.
o After the match, Melina and Nitro stormed into Theodore Longs office. Long was slapped by Melina. Theodore Long then fired both Melina and Nitro.

* Gregory Helms defeated Super Crazy to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship (9:54)
o Helms used the ropes for leverage.

* Mark Henry defeated Kurt Angle via count out (9:11).
o After the match, Angle locked Henry in the Ankle Lock, and Henry tapped out. After, he nailed Henry with the Angle Slam over the announcers table.

* King of the Ring Final: Booker T w/ Sharmell defeated Bobby Lashley after Finlay hit Lashley with his shillelagh (9:15). After the match, Booker T was crowned by Sharmell, but Lashley speared Booker into the Kings throne.
o Judgment Day 2006 marked the first time that the King of the Ring tournament final match would be held on a pay-per-view other than WWE King of the Ring, and is also the first King of the Ring final in 4 years.

* The Great Khali w/Daivari defeated The Undertaker (8:32).

* World Heavyweight Championship Match: Champion vs. Champion: Rey Mysterio defeated WWE United States Champion John Bradshaw Layfield to retain the World Heavyweight Championship (15:55).
 


The 2007 edition on Judgment Day will take place on May 20th, 2007 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
